Idlib - SMART

On Wednesday, the Founding Body of the Salvation Government in the areas controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sheikh.

The head of government, Mohammed al-Sheikh, told SMART that the Founding Body informed him that it accepted the resignation "orally" and that he did not receive the formal acceptance of the request, but that will be on Saturday.

Al-Sheikh stated that the Founding Body delayed accepting the resignation because it holds its meetings every two weeks, as its members come from different cities and have their work, which impedes the completion of meetings quickly.

The acceptance of the resignation comes after a meeting of the Founding Body to discuss the request for the resignation of the Prime Minister at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, north of Idlib.

On Tuesday, Mohammed al-Sheikh announced that he would resign from the government if the Interior Ministry failed to find the abductors of the Health Coast director and release him in 24 hours.

Two days ago, the abductors released the health director but with a ransom of $ 100,000. Al-Sheikh confirmed that this would not discourage him from resigning.

On Oct. 7, the Salvation Government was formed after elections at the Bab al-Hawa crossing on the Syrian-Turkish border, where Mohammed al-Sheikh was elected as its president and 11 ministers were appointed.
