Aleppo - SMART

On Friday, dozens of people demonstrated in the city of Jarablus, 120 kilometers northeast of Aleppo, Northern Syria, to demand an end to armed demonstrations and the relocation of military headquarters outside the city after a civilian was shot dead.

Activists told SMART that about 100 people participated in the demonstration, which was launched during the funeral of the civilian who was killed inside his house by a random shot fired by one of the residents during a wedding.

The activists added that the demonstrators demanded the Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions, the military and civil police and local council to empty the city from all military headquarters, in order to prevent incidents of random shooting.

Since August 2016, the Euphrates Shield factions and Turkish Army forces have been controlling the entire city of Jarablus on the border with Turkey, and the local council runs its service.

FSA factions, Islamic battalions and civil bodies prohibited shooting and firing at events in areas of Northern Syria, but the decision was not responded to effectively. As a result, many civilians were killed and wounded.
