Idlib - SMART

On Saturday, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) released seven men accused of promoting reconciliations with the Syrian government in Southern Idlib, Northern Syria.

Local sources reported that five of the released men are from the town of Maartahrama and two of them are from the village of al-Naqir. The HTS arrested the seven men during a campaign to arrest reconciliation promoters.

On Wednesday, a security official from the HTS said that HTS members arrested 12 people in the town of Maartahrama and the village of al-Naqir, accusing them of coordinating with the loyalist forces and allegiance with the Islamic State.

The HTS and Free Syrian Army factions launched an arrest campaign against the people who promote reconciliations with the Syrian government. Recently, the Syrian government threatened to launch a military campaign to take the Idlib governorate by force. Idlib is currently outside Syrian government control.
