Idlib - SMART

Forcibly displaced people (FDP) from the towns and villages of eastern Hama, Central Syria, called for improvements in the camps in which they live in the Atma camp complex in Northern Idlib, Northern Syria.

On Monday, the head of the local council of the village of al-Fan al-Shamali in eastern Hama, Mahmoud Tawfik, told SMART that more than a thousand displaced families living in four camps in Atma suffer due to the bad roads leading to their camps.

Tawfik added that the road problem will force the FDPs to evacuate the camps if the roads are not paved before winter.

Tawfik stated that the IDPs did not receive any assistance during the nine months they spent in the camps except for water and food supplies two months ago. The FDPs also suffer from the lack of sanitation facilities.

FDPs from eastern Hama who live in a camp near the village of Ain al-Hamra in Western Idlib, complained that humanitarian organizations had not provided any assistance to them.

FDPs in camps in Northern Syria regularly complain due to lack of services such as sanitation facilities, medical clinics, tents, water, foodstuffs, heating, and education.
