Hama - SMART

On Tuesday, the first day of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, the loyalist forces shelled the town of al-Lataminah, 35 kilometers north of Hama, Central Syria.

Local activists said that the loyalist forces shelled the town's graveyard with artillery shells from their surrounding checkpoints. The shelling damaged property. The Eid prayers were cancelled in the town due to the shelling.

The shelling is part of a continuous bombing on the Hama countryside, especially the town of al-Lataminah, since May 2018. The bombing has killed and injured civilians and displaced people to nearby areas.

Most Syrians are not celebrating Eid al-Adha for the seventh year in a row due to the harsh conditions they live in, including arrest campaigns, military operations, and displacement to camps and nearby countries. Syrian refugees changed their traditions and rituals according to the countries they live in now.
