88,000 refugees in Turkey return to Syria to spend Eid al-Adha vacation

Around 88,000 Syrian refugees re-entered Syria from Turkey to spend the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, which started on Tuesday, in Syria. The refugees re-entered from three crossings in Aleppo and Idlib, Northern Syria.

Hassan Qabso, a reporter from the al-Salama crossing, Northern Aleppo, reported that 35,855 refugees crossed the al-Salama crossing. The last day of crossing at the al-Salama crossing was Aug. 18, however, around 15,000 did not cross despite registering to do so.

Qabso added that the last day for the refugees to return to Turkey is January 1, 2019.

Around 17,000 people crossed the Jarablus crossing (125 kilometers northeast of Aleppo), according to an Interim Government statement.

Mazen Allouch, the head of the Bab al-Hawa Crossing's media office, stated that around 35,000 refugees crossed the Bab al-Hawa crossing. Most of the refugees will return by Sept. 19. Teachers, students and patients have an earlier time limit, which is Aug. 27.

The Syrian refugees entered Syria between Aug. 6 and Aug. 18.

In June, 59,400 Syrian refugees returned to Turkey through the Bab al-Hawa crossing, after spending the Eid al-Fitr holiday in Syria.
