Aleppo - SMART

The semblance of Eid al-Adha is absent in a camp for forcibly displaced people (FDP) from Deir ez-Zor, Eastern Syria, in the village of al-Tawamah, west of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

On Thursday, one of the camp's dignitaries, Abu Khalid al-Diri, told SMART that about 67 families living in the camp from the al-Jazeera and Euphrates areas lack the most basic elements of Eid, such as clothing, play, and family visits.

One of the FDPs, Mahmoud al-Hussein, said that he prayed the Eid prayer in a tent converted into a makeshift mosque by the FDPs. Al-Hussein expressed sadness at being away from his relatives and friends.

The child Qasem said that the children did not feel the joy of Eid because they could not buy new clothes and there were no suitable playgrounds for them except a single swing.

FDPs in the eastern region of Syria suffer from the lack of support and poor services in most camps in Northern and Central Syria.
