Turkey - SMART

On Thursday, the Working Group for Palestinians of Syria reported that the Palestinian militias supporting the Syrian government dismissed dozens of their fighters.

The working group added that the Free Palestine movement, Fath al-Intifada, and al-Saika organization dismissed dozens of their fighters in Syria and cut off their salaries. They only kept some fighters from the al-Yarmouk camp, Southern Damascus.

The working group quoted private sources saying that the militias do not need the fighters after seizing the al-Yarmouk camp and because of the lack of financial support.

The working group added that the militias dismissed the fighters without compensation. The group did not clarify whether the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine dismissed its fighters as well.

On May 21, 2018, the Syrian government forces seized the al-Yarmouk camp and the al-Hajar al-Aswad neighborhood, after evacuating the Islamic State (IS) from them.
