Al-Suwayda - SMART

A child committed suicide by hanging himself, in the governorate of al-Suwayda, Southern Syria, after playing the game "Mariam," which is available in electronic stores.

A medical source at the Sally Hospital in Southeastern al-Suwayda, said that they received the body of the 13-year-old child, Tamam Marwan Abu Mughdeb, who committed suicide on Friday, after his family took him to the hospital.

According to media sources in al-Suwayda, the child is the son of Mukhtar (headman) of the Abu Zureiq village in al-Suwayda and he committed suicide because of the game.

Earlier, several Arab countries warned their citizens against using the game because of its severe psychological impact on teenagers in particular.

The story of "Mariam" follows a little girl lost from home. It asks the players to help her return. The players are asked a series of personal questions and political questions that have nothing to do with the game's meaning, to comply with the girl's orders amid terrifying audio and visual effects.
