Hama - SMART

On Monday, military observatories reported that the Syrian government forces flew warplanes and helicopters from the Hama military air base, Central Syria, to the air bases of al-Mazzeh, al-Shu’airat, and Kowayris.

The observatories added that the Syrian government forces flew four warplanes to the al-Shu’airat air base, one warplane to the al-Nayrab air base in Aleppo, two helicopters to the Kowayris air base, and one helicopter to the Latakia air base. The observatories noted that the Syrian government relocated the warplanes in anticipation of a potential foreign airstrike.

Local sources confirmed that the Syrian government moved the warplanes and helicopters from the Hama air base to other air bases in different parts of Syria.

The United States, France, and the United Kingdom vowed to take action if the Syrian government uses chemical weapons again in Syria. The vows coincided with the fifth anniversary of the chemical massacre that the Syrian government forces committed in Eastern Ghouta.

In April 2018, the US, France, and the UK launched rocket strikes against scientific research centers and military facilities belonging to the Syrian government. The three countries said that the strikes came in response to the chemical attack that the Syrian government’s forces were accused of in the city of Douma in Rif Dimashq.
