Idlib - SMART

On Monday, Syrian government forces closed the crossing of the town of Abu al-Duhur, east of Idlib, Northern Syria, seven days after its opening.

The head of the local council of the town, Hussein al-Khalaf, told SMART that the Syrian government forces closed the crossing after the traffic declined there, where no more five cars passed on Sunday.

Al-Khalaf stated that more than 20 families a day were passing from the crossing, on the days following its opening, from areas outside Syrian government control in Idlib to those under its control.

On Sunday, the Syrian government forces arrested seven young men from Aqrab village, south of Hama, Central Syria, while they were passing through the crossing on their way back from Idlib.

Last Monday, the Syrian government forces opened the crossing and imposed substantial fees on civilians and vehicles passing through it. Therefore, the traffic declined there.
