Hama - SMART

On Monday, dozens of residents in the city of Kafr Zayta, north of Hama, Central Syria,  demonstrate to deny the Syrian government's media news about the evacuation of the city.

The Syrian government's media claimed that the Islamic Turkestan Party evacuated the residents from the city and brought foreign militants instead after the Syrian government threatened to storm the area.

One of the demonstrators, Abu Ahmad, told SMART said that only children, women and the elderly people live in the city and not "terrorists" as the Syrian government claims.

Abu Ahmad added that the people are not afraid of the usage of chemical weapons and are adhering to stay in their land and to overthrow the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and judge him.

Activists said that some families were displaced from the city to the governorate of Idlib, after statements by Russia and the Syrian government that the Syrian Civil Defense prepare for a "performance" of a chemical attack on the city.

On Sunday, the local council of the city contradicted these statements and considered them a suggestion from the Syrian government of its intention to use chemical weapons against the city.

Kafr Zayta contains a small number of people after most of them were displaced as a result of intense bombing from the Syrian government forces and Russia on the city. It's empty of the leading service facilities and Civil Defense centers, according to the council.
