Idlib - SMART

On Tuesday, the National Liberation Front (NLF) of the Free Syrian Army denied that they were in contact with Russian forces or negotiated to settle the situation in Idlib, Northern Syria.

This comes after the Sputnik agency quoted the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shweigo, as saying, "The Russian reconciliation center is holding talks with faction leaders in Idlib to reach a peaceful settlement."

The spokesman for the NLF, Captain Naji Mustafa, told SMART that the Russian statements come in the context of "psychological war" launched with the Syrian government forces.

Mustafa stressed their readiness to defeat any military action by the Syrian government on any area in Idlib.

The Russian Interfax news agency reported that on Friday, Russia submitted a proposal to Turkey to resolve the situation in Northwestern Syria.

The Syrian government sent threats to storm the governorate, most of which are outside its control. The Syrian government also began to send military reinforcements, after it seized entire Southern Syria.
