Aleppo - SMART

Turkish officers referred five officers from the Free Syrian Army's military police and Turkish soldiers in the Afrin area, Aleppo, Northern Syria, for investigation on charges of "corruption and bribery."

On Tuesday, a source from the military police told SMART that the Turkish officers are investigating military police officers and Turkish soldiers involved with them in the headquarters of police and security forces in the city of Azaz.

The source refused to disclose the numbers of arrested officers and soldiers and the results of preliminary investigations. However, activists said that among the arrested there is the head of the drug control department, Mahmoud Salo, a captain and three lieutenant officers.

Activists accused the FSA and military leaders of committing abuses against civilians in their controlled areas north and east of Aleppo.
