Deir Ez-Zor, SMART

On Tuesday, activists reported that the al-Fatemiyoun Shiite Afghani militia supporting the Syrian government forces, raided the city of Abu Kamal and village of al-Suwai’iyah, 125 kilometers east of Deir Ez-Zor, Eastern Syria, arresting people.

The activists working in the al-Furat Post website dedicated to Deir Ez-Zor news added that the majority of people in Deir Ez-Zor returned to the area after they reconciled with the Syrian government.

The activists noted that this is the first time that militias launch raid campaigns in Deir Ez-Zor. The activists added that earlier, the militias’ work was limited to deploy to the frontline. The activists noted that the militias don’t trust the Syrian government forces and fear from groups belonging to the Islamic State in the area.

The raid campaigns came after disputes and clashes that erupted between foreign loyalist militias on one side and the National Defense militia belonging to the Syrian government in al-Bukamal and surrounding towns in recent weeks.
