Idlib - SMART

On Wednesday, the National Liberation Front (NLF) arrested dozens of people in the Eastern Idlib countryside, accusing them of promoting reconciliations with the Syrian government.

Activists reported that the NLF arrested more than 30 people in the villages of al-Breisa, Tal al-Shih, al-Hablah, Eastern al-Deir and Tal al-Shaykh in the Eastern Idlib countryside, In addition to six other people who gave themselves up in the village of al-Maesrounah.

Activists said that the NLF arrested these people during a security campaign against the people who promote concluding reconciliation agreements with the Syrian government.

The NLF, the formation of which was announced on May 28, 2018, consists of most of the Defeat the Invaders Operations Room factions, along with other factions. These factions will later form the core of the future Revolution Army, according to the NLF.

Earlier, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which is an Islamist opposition faction previously known as the al-Nusra Front, arrested a merchant in the village of al-Ghadfah, Southern Idlib, accusing him of promoting reconciliations. The HTS also arrested dozens of people for the same reasons earlier this month, as the Free Syrian Army and the Islamist factions threatened to kill whoever promotes reconciliations with the Syrian government.
