Initial Response Team pulls 16 new bodies out from neighborhoods of al-Raqqa

On Wednesday, the Initial Response Team (IRT) in the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria, pulled 16 bodies out from rubble in the city. 2147 bodies have been found since the beginning of 2018.

The IRT pulled 10 bodies out from the al-Jamaa al-Ateeq Square and handed them over to their relatives who participated in the excavation. The IRT also pulled four bodies out from near the gas place and two bodies out from the al-Badou neighborhood.

The head of the reconstruction committee in the al-Raqqa civil council, Ibrahim Hassan, said that they have pulled out 2,147 bodies since Dec. 8, 2018.

Hassan explained that they handed over 364 bodies to their relatives and buried 1,783 bodies in the cemetery of the martyrs.

The IRT periodically pulls bodies out from the rubble of destroyed buildings in the city of al-Raqqa.

The International Coalition has recently admitted that it killed 1,059 civilians by its strikes on Syria and Iraq from August 2014 until the end of June 2018. Mass graves for people, who were killed by the Islamic State, were also discovered.
