Homs - SMART

On Thursday, officers of the political security branch of the Syrian government met former media activists in Northern Homs, Central Syria.

Local sources told SMART that the political security branch summoned 15 activists working in the media during the Free Syrian Army  (FSA) control of Northern Homs. The political security branch asked them about the nature of their work and the parties with whom they worked.

The source explained, "They asked about the parties' media with which the activists worked, the salaries they were receiving and the equipment they received during the coverage of events in Northern Homs." The source stated that the political security allowed them to leave after the completion of the investigation.

The source also stated that some activists had previously worked in the media office of the Jaysh al-Tawheed in Talbiseh. They decided to stay in the city after a "settlement" with the Syrian government forces, while some of them returned after leaving with convoys of forcibly displaced people (FDP) to Northern Syria.

Last May, the Syrian government forces announced seizing the entire Northern Homs, after the previous group of FDP left as part of an agreement imposed by Russia on civil and military bodies and the people of the region. The agreement included a "settlement" for six months.
