Hama - SMART

Local councils in the al-Ghab Plain, 45 kilometers west of Hama, Central Syria, condemned the explosions of two bridges by the National Liberation Front (NLF). The two bridges linked the NLF-controlled areas with loyalist forces-controlled areas.

The head of the local council of the village of Qaber Fidah, Abdul Mouen al-Masri, reported that the explosions of the bridges of Bait al-Ras and al-Sharia, is "an action that serves the loyalist forces' interests."

In a statement, the local council of the villages of al-Krayem, al-Ashrafiah, Qaber Fidah, al-Ramlah, Tamaa al-Ghab, al-Darablah, al-Hakurah, al-Tutah, and Jiser al-Tutah, demanded to reveal their fates after the explosions.

Local activists reported that dozens of families from the Bait al-Ras and al-Sharia villages temporary fled to nearby farmlands, fearing a potential loyalist forces' bombing on their villages as a retaliation to the explosions.

Muhamad Rashid, the head of the media office to the NLF, denied reasonability for the explosions, while activists confirmed the NLF's responsibility.

These explosions coincided with threats by the Syrian government to launch a military operation on the governorate of Idlib, which close to the al-Ghab plain. The opposition factions established defense frontlines and sent reinforcement to their bases near the loyalist forces' bases.
