Al-Raqqa – SMART

On Monday, the general security forces of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration detained two men in the city of al-Raqqa for writing pro-Syrian government phrases on a wall in the city.

A source from the security forces reported that they arrested the two men on Monday morning while they were writing pro-government phrases on the wall of the local stadium in the city.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, added that the men wrote, "We are with you," "Al-Assad or no one," "We are all for our homeland," and "The Fourth Armored Division," in addition to other phrases.

Earlier, the Asayish security forces imposed increased security procedures after similar phrases were written on the local stadium's walls and on the Ali Ibn Abi Taleb School's walls in the al-Badou neighborhood. The phrases were, "The al-Nimer forces are coming," "Al-Assad or no one," and "The Syrian Armed Forces are coming." The Asayish forces later removed the phrases.

Several similar incidents occurred in the cities and villages of the al-Raqqa governorate, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. On May 23, 2018, the Kurdish People's Protection Units launched arrest campaigns in the al-Raqqa countryside after several groups raised the Syrian government flag.
