Al-Raqqa - SMART

The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) arrested three people in the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria after they clashed with them and imposed a curfew in the area.

The YPG is a predominantly Kurdish military faction in Syria that controls areas in al-Raqqa, al-Hasakah, and Aleppo. The YPG fights the Islamic State and is supported by the International Coalition. It does not fight against the Syrian loyalist forces but fights against the Free Syrian Army.

An exclusive source told SMART that the special forces and anti-terrorism forces clashed with a group of unknowns in the al-Tuwsaaiya neighborhood near the local field, wounding one of the group's members seriously, and arresting two of those who were with him.

The source added that the special forces and the anti-terrorism spread with armored vehicles and heavy machine guns along the road of the local field and the road of al-Moroor Park, al-Quwatli Street and the Youth Housing Street, and imposed a curfew from 11 pm to 6 am.

A day ago, the Asayish forces of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration arrested people in the wake of explosions that targeted their members in the city of al-Raqqa, controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

In recent times, unknown persons or the Islamic State targeted members of the Kurdish People's Protection Units and the SDF, killing and wounding civilians and SDF members.
