Al-Suwayda - SMART

The Rijal al-Karama Brigade rescued an elderly woman and three children from the Shabiha militia and criminals in the city of Shahba, 18 kilometers north of al-Suwayda, Southern Syria.

Local sources told SMART that the elderly woman and the children belong to the nomadic tribes in the governorate. They were traveling by car with their sheep from the village of Tarba in the eastern countryside to the village of Sama in the western countryside when the Shabiha militia tried to steal the sheep before they were prevented by local residents.

The source added that Shabiha detained the elderly woman and children in reaction to the local residents' protests. The al-Karama Brigade subsequently rescued them and secured them in the home of a relative in the city of Shahba.

On Aug. 13, 2018, the militia of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party arrested members of the Umayrat tribe in the eastern countryside of the al-Suwayda governorate while they were travelling to the western countryside.
