On Thursday, the Syrian government forces prepared to send dozens of youths from the al-Qalamoun district in Northern Damascus, to fight with the Syrian government forces in Idlib. The youths were former fighters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

Local sources reported that the Syrian government forces would send 116 youths from the city of al-Dumair to join the Syrian government’ forces reinforcements in preparation to launch an attack against Idlib. The sources noted that the youths fought the Syrian government forces in 2013.

The sources added that 60 youths from the city of al-Rahiba, who volunteered in the al-Qalamoun Shield faction and the Syrian government forces’ Fourth Division, will also join the Syrian government forces in Idlib.

The sources noted that the Syrian government forces’ Military Police, Fourth Division, and Russian troops supervised sending the youths to Idlib.

The Syrian government forces intensify bombings on Eastern and Western Idlib as Syrian government’ officials speak about a Russian backed expected battle in Idlib.

The Syrian government forces seized the Eastern al-Qalamoun district under an agreement that the FSA and Russia reached in April 2018. The agreement followed a siege on the city of al-Ruhaiba. The Syrian government forces seized the city of al-Dumair after they reached an independent agreement with opposition factions in the city.
