People of Aleppo protest in solidarity with Idlib against Syrian government's military campaign

Thousands of people protested in several cities towns and villages of the Aleppo governorate, Northern Syria, in solidarity with the people of Idlib, condemning the potential military campaign by the Syrian government forces, supported by Russia and Iran.  

Hundreds of people protested in the city of Azaz, Northern Aleppo to express solidarity with the people of Idlib. The protesters raised the Syrian Revolution's flag and shouted against the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, and asked to expel him from Syria. The protesters also confirmed that the Revolution would continue until they overthrow the regime.

Dozens of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Damascus and IDPs from the Northern Homs countryside protested in the city of Afrin, Northern Aleppo. The protesters raised the Syrian Revolution's flag and banners that read, "Idlib has the right to defend itself." The protesters demanded the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Afrin area to support the people of Idlib against the Syrian government forces.  

Around one thousand people protested in the streets of the city of Mari in Aleppo and shouted against Russia and its support to the Syrian government forces. The protesters expressed solidarity with the Idlib governorate. The Syrian government is preparing to launch a military campaign on Idlib. The protesters demanded the FSA factions arrest and held accountable the promoters of reconciliation.     

Activists reported that around 16 protests arose in the towns and cities of Aleppo governorate, such as Azaz. Mari, al-Bab, Qabasin, Soran Azaz, Bazaa, Jarabulus, al-Rai'e, Mremin, al-Nabi Hori, and Kaljabrin.

The protests coincided with military escalation on Idlib by the Syrian government forces and Russia. On Sept. 4, 2018, suspected Russian air raids targeted the Jisr al-Shugur area, killing 14 civilians and injuring 31 others. Recently, the Syrian government sent military reinforcements to the area, as the Syrian government's officials spoke about a potential battle with the support of Russia.
