Al-Hasakah - SMART

On Saturday, a fire occurred in the automated bakery run by the Syrian government in the city of Amuda, 70 kilometers north of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

A bakery employee, who refused to state his name, said that the fire burned the entire oven area and spread to the main fuel tank pipes, destroying the whole oven department and causing its ceiling to collapse. The employee estimated the damages to be worth about five million Syrian pounds.

The source also said that the bakery serves the entire city of Amuda and its countryside, providing bread for about 10,000 people, even though that people preferred to buy bread from private bakeries due to the low quality of public bakeries' bread.

Earlier, several people from the city of al-Hasakah complained about the low quality of bread produced by the bakeries of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration.
