Hama - SMART

On Monday, the free Hama governorate council launched an emergency appeal to help people that were forcibly displaced from Hama travel to the neighboring Idlib governorate after the intense bombing from Russia and the Syrian government.

In a statement, the Hama governorate council called on international bodies and human rights organizations to "continue their commitment to protect civilians," and to put pressure on the Syrian government and its supporters to stop the military escalation in Hama's northern and western countryside.

The statement stated that the "lifeline" has been cut to the cities of Kafr Zayta, al-Lataminah and Qalat al-Madiq and the villages of the Jabal Shahshbo and Sahl al-Ghab areas. The statement also added that the shelling destroyed homes and infrastructure, including hospitals and schools.

The displacement is caused by a military escalation by the Syrian government and Russia, which continue to bomb different parts of the Hama governorate using dozens of missiles, rockets and explosive barrels, killing and injuring dozens of civilians. Some vital centers were forced to shut down and thousands of civilians were no longer receive basic services.
