Islamic State kills and injures Syrian government forces’ members in Eastern Homs

On Tuesday, The Islamic State (IS) killed and injured members of the Syrian government forces, Eastern Homs, Central Syria.

A local source reported that on Monday,  the 8th, 11th,15th, and 18th Divisions of the Syrian government forces launched a military operation against the IS in the steppe of the city of al-Sukhna. The source added that clashes erupted between the Syrian government forces and the IS’ members, who killed nine members of the Syrian government forces, including a Colonel and Major General, and injured 14 other members in two days. The sources noted that none of the IS’ members was killed or injured in the clashes.

The source added that the IS deploys to outposts in the Homs steppe. The source noted that the IS depends on ambushes, landmines, and sudden attacks against the Syrian government forces.

The Russian RT channel reported that on Monday, the IS ambushed the Syrian government forces in the Tolol al-Safa area, Eastern Homs, killing 20 members of the Syrian government forces and injuring others.

On June 21, 2018, clashes erupted between the IS and Syrian government forces in the Palmyra steppe, Eastern Homs, killing members of both sides.  

The IS and Syrian government forces continue to fight in the Syrian steppe, killing and injuring members of both sides as the Syrian government forces advance against the IS.
