Hama - SMART

Russian and Syrian government forces' bombings with different kinds of arsenal destroyed a school in the city of Kafr Zayta in Hama, Central Syria.

On Tuesday, Faisal Hamada, a member of the local council of Kafr Zayta, stated that the Syrian government forces stationed at surrounding checkpoints targeted the school with 50 airstrikes, dozens of missiles, and artillery shelling. Hamada added that the bombings caused significant destruction in the school.

Hamada noted that the estimated cost to rehabilitate the school is 20,000 US dollars. Hamada added that they were preparing the school to receive 1,000 students in the new school year; however, the Russian and Syrian government forces’ campaign displaced the residents of the city, depriving children of education.

Earlier, the Free Hama Educational Directorate extended the suspension of schools in the Western Hama countryside for three days due to the Russian and Syrian government forces' intense bombing on the area.

The Syrian government and Russian bombings continue to displace civilians in Hama and Idlib. In recent weeks, the Syrian government forces and Russia bombed Hama and Idlib using different kinds of arsenal, killing and injuring dozens of civilians. Some vital centers were forced to shut down, depriving thousands of civilians from basic services.
