Deir al-Zor-SMART

The Islamic State (IS) has executed a man in the town of al-Marashdeh near the city of Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria, on charges of smuggling women captives and dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

On Monday, a local source told SMART that a man from the town of al-Souse was executed after a two-month detention on charges of smuggling a Yazidi girl to the areas controlled by the SDF.

The source added that the IS arrested the young man while he was selling flour in the town of al-Souse on his way from the village of al-Riz, which is controlled by the SDF.

The IS calls women who have been abducted from areas previously controlled by the Syrian government or belonging to other religious minorities captives. The IS also hosts auctions where its members can buy and sell the women. The buyer has the right to do what he wants with the captive, according to IS ideology.

The IS executed several people from Deir al-Zor on accusations of infidelity, spying for the Free Syrian Army and the International Coalition, blasphemy, and others.
