On Tuesday, the Palestinian leftist opposition to the Syrian government, Salama Kila, died at the age of 63, as a result of terminal illness.

Syrian figures and activists mourned Salama on their social media accounts. They recalled his opposition attitudes to the Syrian government.

Salama was born in 1955 in the city of Birzeit, Palestine. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Baghdad in 1979. He was imprisoned for eight years in the Syrian government's prisons. He left Damascus after the Syrian revolution began and the security pursued him.

During his career, Salama published more than 20 books on revolutions, politics, economics and Marxist theories, including Criticism of the Party in 1987, Arabs and the Nation Issue in 1989, Criticism of Popular Marxism in 1990, Problems of Marxism in the Arab World 2003, Current Globalization in 2004 ".
