Hama - SMART

On Thursday, a local source said that the Syrian government traffic police in the city of Hama, Central Syria, confiscated dozens of cars carrying plates of the closeby Idlib governorate.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons, told SMART that police patrols banned vehicles carrying Idlib plates from driving through Hama, after a decision by the head of the Hama Traffic Police, and have confiscated dozens of vehicles since yesterday. Most of the confiscated vehicles were taxis, and the reason for the ban remains unknown.

The source added that earlier, the Hama Traffic Police issued three similar decisions to confiscate vehicles with Idlib plates, but cancelled them later.

In July, 2018, the Syrian government forces confiscated most of the trucks and lorries operating in the city of Hama to use them for military purposes, after one day of issuing a decision to ban the the trucks and lorries from driving through Hama.
