Aleppo - SMART

On Thursday, the Usud al-Sharqiya Army belonging to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched a military campaign against an armed group in the Afrin area in Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Ramadan Suleiman, a member of the media office in the al-Sharqiya Army, reported that they conducted an operation against an armed group working under the 'Adl Gathering that commits violations in the name of the FSA against civilians in the village of Qarba in the Jindayris area, Western Afrin.

Suleiman added that they captured members of the group, but that its leader, Abu Abdullah al-Salafi, escaped.

Suleiman noted that they coordinated with the General Staff in the Syrian Interim Government, FSA factions in the area, and security institutions.

Amnesty International, activists, and Autonomous Administration supporters accused the Turkish Army and FSA of committing encroachments and violations in areas the FSA and Turkish Army control in Northern and Eastern Aleppo.
