Rif Dimashq - SMART

The people of the city of Harasta in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus complained about the spread of garbage in the streets and the lack of services after the Syrian government forces recently seized the city.

Locals from the city reported that the garbage spread in most of the city street in addition to the rubble that spread due to the destruction of residential buildings. About 2,000 people from Harasta recently returned to the city.

The people also complained about the lack of essential services such as electricity, potable water, and internet, saying that they called the local council to improve the situation, but they did not respond.

Earlier, the council of Harasta city demanded the people remove the rubble from their houses in 10 days under financial penalty.

In mid-April, the Syrian government forces announced seizing total control on Eastern Ghouta after the last group of forcibly displaced persons left the city of Douma. The Syrian government forces launched an intensified military campaign on Ghouta, destroying large areas, killing, and injuring thousands of civilians.
