Aleppo - SMART

Hundreds of forcibly displaced people (FDP) from the village of Aqirbat in the Hama countryside suffer in difficult humanitarian conditions in the al-Khalawi camp near the city of Jarablus, 100 kilometers northeast of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Five hundred FDP live in the camp, which is located on the eastern edges of Jarablus. The camp includes 100 tents that are randomly scattered.

The FDP in the camp depend on water tanks and nearby wells to for water to drink and cook with, but are forced to go to Jarablus to receive medical treatment and buy basic necessities.

The FDP’s children are forced to walk 3 kilometers to get to the nearest school in Jarablus. The camp shelters 100 school children.

The FDP in the camps of Jarablus suffer due to the spread of diseases and lack of basic necessities. Organizations and relief groups are absent from the camps.

Nour Muhammad, the head of the service office of the local council in Jarablus said that they are trying to relocate the FDP from the camps in the city and transport them to camps outside.
