Idlib - SMART

On Sunday, the fourth part of a football league ended in the town of Hass, 35 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria. The Kafr Nubl sports club and the Union of Revolutionary Offices (URB) organized the league. 5,500 people attended the league.

One of the league's organizers, Nazih al-Bayoush, told SMART that on Sept. 8, that the tournament started with the participation of 16 teams, the al-Ta'awon team from the city of Kafr Nubl and the URB team reached the final.

Al-Bayoush added that the teams included players of different ages and regions. Each team paid fees of 15,000 Syrian pounds (about US $ 30) to participate in the tournament. Prizes also will be distributed to the winning team, including sportswear, medals, cups, and footballs.

Al-Bayoush stated that the tournament aims to revive youth after years of war and destruction of infrastructure by the Syrian government forces in the governorate.

The final score of the match was at 5-3 in favor of the al-Ta'awon team. The number of audiences was about 5,500, including a delegation from the free Syrian Sports Union and the Syrian revolutionary chanter Abdul Basset al-Sarout.

After the de-escalation agreement has been in force since May 2016, several events and sports tournaments have been organized in the governorate of Idlib. Civil society organizations, such as the Civil Defense and hospital staff, participated in these tournaments to increase communication between the participants and create an atmosphere of fun.
