Hama - SMART

Students complain about the lack of school furniture, most importantly desks, in the village of Tal Hawash in Hama, Central Syria, due to Syrian government forces and Russian bombings and looting.

Amer al-Ahmad, the school manager, reported that the school has 270 students in the preparatory and elementary stages, and the school lacks doors, windows, and desks, forcing the students to sit on the floor during classes.

Al-Ahmad added that the Syrian government forces bombed the school, and when the residents evacuated the village, thieves stole the school's equipment.

Al-Ahmad noted that the school belongs to the Syrian Interim Government, and has sufficient educational staff and students from different nearby villages.

Education in the areas outside Syrian government control suffers from significant difficulties such as the Syrian government forces' bombings and lack of support and instructions.
