Al-Hasakah - SMART

On Tuesday, the Kurdish Autonomous Administration issued traffic notices to drivers transporting students from its controlled areas to schools in the Syrian government-controlled areas in the al-Hasakah governorate, Northeastern Syria.

The Rojava Traffic Service of the Autonomous Administration posted pictures on its Facebook account showing the identity cards of drivers that they issued traffic violation notices to in the city of al-Qamishli. The Rojava Traffic Service issued these notices because the drivers breached the Autonomous Administration's decision to prevent drivers from transporting students to Syrian government schools.

The Syrian government schools are located in the al-Muraba al-Amni area, the neighbohoods of Tay and Zanoud in the city of al-Qamishli, and on the perimeter of the al-Qamishli airport area.

On Wednesday morning, the Rojava Traffic Service decided to prevent bus and taxi drivers from transporting students to the Syrian government-controlled areas' schools, under the penalty of confiscating the transporting vehicle and legal accountability.

Recently, tension rose between the Syriac people and the Autonomous Administration when the latter issued a decision to close all Syriac schools. The Asayish forces of the Autonomous Administration also closed a school belonging to the Evangelical Church in the city of al-Hasakah for teaching the Syrian government school curriculum.
