Homs - SMART

On Wednesday, the Syrian Correspondence Coordinators demanded "active parties" to put pressure on the Syrian government and Russia to left the siege from and allow food entry to the Rukban camp, Eastern Homs, on the Syrian-Jordanian border area.

In a statement, the Syrian Correspondence Coordinators invited to open the Jordanian border from the camp side and allow the entry of humanitarian aid, confirming that they communicated with humanitarian organizations in Jordan that are ready to provide the immediate assistance but the closed border stops them.

The Coordinators also demanded the organizations, the international concerned parties, and the United Nations to intervene and allow humanitarian aid entry to the camp immediately and to hold the parties involved in the siege accountable, also, to list the camp siege as a crime against humanity.

The Coordinators said in the statement, "The Syrian government forces policy of starving people to surrender should be listed as a war crime against civilians in the camp, as the Syrian government is forcing internally displaced persons to return to its controlled areas."

The Response Coordinators in Northern Syria are a group of volunteers working to help displaced people from various Syrian regions to Northern Syria. The coordinators' work began since the beginning of the displacement campaigns that took place in many cities and villages in Syria. The mission of the team is to track the arrival of newly displaced people and count them in their areas where they arrived. They also direct organizations to respond as much as possible to newly displaced people

On September 23, 2018, the United Nations Children’s Fund reopened the only medical clinic in the camp after Jordan closed the clinic for over a week, causing a child to die after he was denied entry into Jordan to be treated in a Jordanian hospital.
