Aleppo - SMART

On Wednesday, a National Liberation Front (NLF) commander said that the Syrian government forces and Iranian militias violate the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement by bombing areas in Western Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Captain Abdul Salam Abdul Razzaq of the NLF, which is affiliated with the Free Syrian Army (FSA), said that the Syrian government forces and Iranian militias' bombing on their sites is a violation of the Russian-Turkish demilitarization agreement, adding that the government forces are trying to make the agreement fail because they did not play a role in the decision-making process.

Abdul Razzaq said that the Syrian government forces and the militias targeted their sites on the front lines with lob bombs and heavy machine guns. The FSA fighters responded to the bombing using medium weapons.

The Syrian government forces bombed the sites hours after the Turkish Defense Ministry announced its withdrawal of heavy weapons from the agreed upon demilitarized zone. The Russian Foreign Ministry suspected a one or two day delay in the implementation of the demilitarized zone.
