Idlib - SMART

On Thursday, the security services belonging to the Salvation Government operating in areas controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham released the media Activist Ahmad Ghajar hours after his detention in the city of Idlib, Northern Syria.

Earlier on Thursday, the security services arrest Ghajar from his house in Idlib, without revealing the reasons for the arrest. A well-informed source and activists reported that the security services arrest Ghajar because of his posts on Facebook.

Ghajar stated that the security services arrested him after people complained about two posts on Facebook, however, dignitaries of the city and the Families Council intervened to release Ghajar.

Ghajar added that he would have to meet the Prosecutor General in Idlib next Saturday to review the charges against him.

Earlier, the Salvation Government arrested teachers, students, and members of the Interim Syrian Government, on different charges, however, activists say that the reason of the arrests is the detainees not acknowledging the legitimacy of the Salvation Government.

The Salvation Government is a government-affiliated to the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) formed without an election at the end of November 2017, seated within Idlib Governorate after HTS took control of the border and the internal crossings to be against the Interim Syrian Government.
