On Friday, the Syrian government Air Force Intelligence Directorate killed Ayed al-Khalidi, the former commander of the Free Syrian Army's (FSA) military council of the village of Kharab al-Shahm near the town of Tal Shihab, 15 kilometers west of Daraa, Southern Syria, while attempting to detain him.

Local sources and Facebook activists reported that a force belonging to the Syrian government Air Force Intelligence Directorate attempted to storm al-Khalidi's house, but al-Khalidi, who was armed after joining the Syrian government Fourth Armored Division, clashed with the force, which killed him and injured his wife and one of his sons. A member of the intelligence force was also killed in the clashes.

The sources said that the after the news of al-Khalidi's death, civilians captured a Syrian government forces major and one member, without any information about their fate, adding that a state of tension prevailed in the village.

Recently, the Syrian government forces started the reconciliation process in Daraa's cities and towns in which Russia and the FSA concluded ceasefire agreements, after those who refused to sign reconciliations were deported to Northern Syria. After concluding the agreements, the Syrian government forces seized total control of the city of Daraa.
