On Thursday, thousands of demonstrators in the al-Hasakah governorate, Northeastern Syria, protested against the recent Turkish bombings on areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Eastern the Euphrates river.

The SDF is comprised of predominantly Kurdish multi-ethnic, Arab, and Assyrian/Syriac militias led by the Kurdish People's Protection Units. The SDF operate mostly in Northern Syria, including al-Raqqa and Deir al- Zor.

Local activists reported that the demonstrations took place in the cities and towns of al-Hasakah, Ras al-Ayn, al-Dirbasiya, al-Qahtaniya, and Tal Tamr. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and decried the Turkish bombings on the SDF areas on the Syrian-Turkish border.

The demonstrators raised signs saying, “We condemn international silence towards Afrin, and no to a demographic change in Afrin. The demonstrators also raised signs on the fourth anniversary of solidarity with the city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), according to the activists.

On Thursday, a Turkish Army’s shelling killed a child in the village of Tal Fandar, Northern al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

The Turkish Army shelled areas controlled by the SDF in Eastern the Euphrates river, killing and injuring SDF fighters, amid Turkish threats to launch military operations in the area. Kurdish parties called upon the Syrian government to assume responsibilities.
