Hama - SMART

Four health centers in the al-Ghab Plain in Northern Hama, Central Syria, close partially due to the lack of financial support.

On Monday, the Hama Health Directorate media official Ibrahim al-Shamali said that two health centers in the northern and southern al-Ghab Plain were closed, after a number of organizations stopped supporting them early this November, including Relief International. One of the centers was for women and children.

Al-Shamali added that the medical staff started work in the four centers voluntarily and met the medical needs of about 45,000 civilians. Al-Shamali also stated that the Directorate is trying to establish health projects in the region to compensate for the halt in some medical services.

The health sector in areas outside Syrian government control in Northern and Central Syria suffers from several problems, including the intense bombing from Syrian government forces and Russia, the cessation of support and attacks by gunmen.
