Aleppo - SMART

On Tuesday, activists and a local administration organized a demonstration in the city of Atarib, 30 kilometers west of Aleppo, Northern Syria, in the first anniversary of a massacre committed by Russia on the city's market and the police station. The bombing killed and injured more than 100 civilians.

About 150 people participated in the demonstration, including members of the Free Police, the Civil Defense, and the city's local council.

A police commander, Maher al-Mer'ei, reported, "We will never forget the massacre in which Atarib lost many of its people. The Russian bombing that day killed more than 13 police members."

Muhammad Adib, a police member, sent condolences to the victims' families, especially his colleagues.

On Nov. 13, 2017, Russian warplanes launched three raids on the Atarib market, a police station, and a medical center, destroying buildings and killing many people. The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces condemned the massacre, which was occurred despite the de-escalation agreement signed by Turkey and Iran.
