On Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that more than 260,000 Syrian refugees in Turkey returned to Northern Aleppo in Northern Syria.

Çavuşoğlu added that more than 260 thousand refugees returned to the areas of Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch military operations after the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Turkish Army gained control of them from the Islamic State (IS) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to the Anadolu agency.

In January 2018, the Turkish chief of staff announced that they launched a military operation named the Olive Branch in cooperation with the FSA in the area of ​​Afrin, Northern Aleppo, against the SDF. In 2016, the Turkish Army launched the Euphrates Shield operation to fight the IS.

In February 2018, Çavuşoğlu said that about 50,000 Syrian refugees had returned to Syria since the launch of the Euphrates Shield Operation.
