Aleppo - SMART

On Monday, the National Army of the Syrian Interim Government denied news that the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction imprisoned some of its fighters during clashes in the city of Afrin in Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Major Yousuf Hamud, the military spokesperson of the National Army, stated that a video that shows 30 prisoners from the National Army held by the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction is an old video.

Hamud added that the last video, which shows a prisoner from the al-Hamza Division of the National Army, is also false, confirming that the prisoner is not one of the division's fighters. Activists said that the prisoner in the video is a civilian from the area.

The National Army factions gained control of the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs' headquarters in the Villa Street in Afrin amidst ongoing clashes to gain control of the remaining headquarters. The National Army faction suspended the clashes for a short period in order to evacuate families from the area.

On Sunday, the FSA launched a security campaign against the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction and imposed a curfew in Afrin. Clashes between both parties killed three National Army fighters and injured others, in addition to injuring at least six civilians, one of whom is in a critical condition.
