On Wednesday, the Free Syrian Army's Hamza Division handed over its checkpoints to the military police in the Afrin area of ​​Aleppo, Northern Syria.

The commander of the Hamza Division Abdullah Halawa reported that the four checkpoints were located between the town of al-Basouta and the city of Afrin (42 kilometers north of Aleppo).

Halawa stated that they will transfer the members who were stationed at the checkpoints to training camps to prepare them for future battles.

Halawa also said that other unnamed military factions will hand over their checkpoints to the military police in the next days.

On Tuesday, the Hamza Division, which is part of the Syrian National Army, announced that it will hand over its checkpoints in Afrin to the military police.

On Nov. 18, 2018, the National Army launched a security campaign in the city of Afrin against the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction, killing more than 16 fighters and injuring 15 others. The campaign ended after the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs commander, Abu Khawla, escaped to Idlib and the fighters' families left for the area of Jindayris.
