Aleppo - SMART

On Thursday, the National Army of the Syrian Interim Government sent military forces to the town of al-Ra'i in Northeastern Aleppo in preparation for its security campaign against people wanted by the military police.

The military spokesman of the National Army, Major Yousef Hamoud, reported that their forces were stationed in the vicinity of the town, without any clashes so far.

Special sources reported that a military convoy of the al-Shamiya Front and the 3rd Division of the National Army left the city of Azaz to go to al-Ra'i to participate in the campaign.

Hamoud added that a group of wanted people escaped from the town to the Idlib governorate, Northern Syria, as he suspected.

Hamoud stated that the military police has imposed a curfew since Thursday morning, in preparation for a campaign against people wanted on charges of corruption and to complete the National Army's campaign in the cities of Afrin, al-Bab, Jarabulus and Azaz.

The sources said that the fighters and two military group commanders, Abu Jawad al-Gharbi of the Jaysh al-Sharqiyah, and Abu Saddam of the 23rd Division, surrendered to the National Army.

After its separation from the Ahrar al-Sharqiyah Gathering, the Abu Jawad al-Gharbi group joined the Northern Brigade and the Jaysh al-Sharqiyah. The Abu Jawad al-Gharbi group consists of about 50 fighters, and the Abu Saddam group consists of 25 fighters. The two groups are accused of robbery, kidnapping, extortion and murder, according to sources.

Earlier, the National Army completed its security campaign against the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs faction in the cities of Azaz, al-Bab and Jarabulus, to complete the campaign that began on Sunday in the city of Afrin. The campaign killed more than 16 fighters and injured 15 others, and ended after the al-Sharqiyah Martyrs commander, Abu Khawla, escaped and the families of the fighters left for Jindayris.
