The Higher Education Council of the Salvation Government, which operates in the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham-controlled areas, threatened not to pay the salaries of 13 professors at the Idlib University, Northern Syria.

It has been located in the Idlib Governorate since the HTS took control of the border, and it does not work or associate with the Interim Syrian Government.

An official at the Council posted on the Council’s official Facebook page that they sent the professors several notices for not signing an exclusive contract. The contract includes an assurance that the professors will not work in any educational institution that is not registered at the Higher Education Council by the decision issued on July 8, 2018.

The official added that the council does not intend to dismiss the professors, which is considered the maximum penalty.

SMART is trying to communicate with the professors for more statements.
