Idlib - SMART

On Monday, the opposition faction Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) seized two villages in Southern Idlib, Northern Syria, after clashes with the Ahrar al-Sham Islamist Movement.

Local activists told SMART that the HTS seized the villages of Jadraya and Aneb in the Ariha area, Southern Idlib, after clashes with the Ahrar al-Sham Movement, which fights for the National Liberation Front (NLF) of the Free Syrian Army (FSA). The clashing parties used heavy and medium-caliber weapons and the clashes killed and injured a member of the Ahrar al-Sham in Jadraya.

A private source told SMART that the clashes between the two parties killed and injured 11 members of the HTS, which captured a member of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement and injured three others.

Earlier on Monday, tension occurred between the two parties, leading them to mobilize their forces in the Idlib governorate.

Since the beginning of this year, the HTS and the NLF have clashed several times over disputed checkpoints and locations in the Idlib and Aleppo governorates. The clashes killed and injured dozens, including civilians, and ended with a truce agreement.
